Our Story
Born from Tamil kitchens and built for
people who love their food made right,
every time.

Where It All Began
Mainland Madras started with something simple. Our shared love for Tamil food and the feeling that comes with it.
We missed the kind of meals that weren’t just about eating, but about sitting together, passing plates around, and feeling at home. So we decided to build a place that brings that feeling to life, right here in East Ham.
What began as an idea between two people slowly turned into a space where our food, our roots, and our stories could be shared with everyone who walks in.

Who We Are Here For
For anyone who craves food that feels real.
For those who grew up with these flavours and for those discovering them for the first time. For family dinners that stretch a little longer, for quick weekday meals that still feel special, and for tables filled with laughter and second servings.
Whether you come here often or it’s your first time, there’s always a place for you at our table.

Why We Do This
Because some things are worth doing the right way, every single time.
We still believe in food that’s made with care, recipes that stay true to where
they come from, and flavours that don’t need to be toned down to be enjoyed.
Seeing familiar faces return, new guests turn into regulars, and meals turn into
memories, that’s what keeps us going.
And that’s why we’re still here, doing what we love.
